Marriott Ownership Resorts, Inc. began in 1984 with the acquisition of 184 villas on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. In 1995, Marriott Ownership Resorts, Inc. was renamed, becoming Marriott Vacation Club International (MVCI), reflecting the company’s evolution from real estate development to timeshares.
Through Marriott Vacation Club International, timeshare owners are allowed to exchange their weeks stay at Marriott resorts with other timeshare owners within the exchange network. Included within this network are over 50 Marriott Vacation Club branded resorts throughout the world along with access to over 2,500 resorts through the timeshare exchange company, Interval International.
Additionally, timeshare owners are also able to exchange their timeshare stay for Marriott Rewards points, which can then be used for hotels and cruises.
